Bridges are for burning.
Where does the love go?
Where does the love go when you stop loving someone?
You spend a period of your life loving someone, being with them, learning and relearning them, and knowing them, then one day, everything ends and nothing is quite the same.
It doesn’t just happen in one day. It’s a gradual process over a period of time. You start to emotionally and mentally check out before you officially do. And then one random day you wake up and realize you can’t be there anymore. Not necessarily because the person did something horrible to you (although if this were the case, it would make it much easier to do the needful). And this is what makes it incredibly devastatingly difficult.
How do you leave someone that has technically done nothing to you?
You suck it up and leave anyways. Easier said than done but staying out of guilt or pity is more cruel.
We’ve been taught that burning bridges is a sign of immaturity. But in the aftermath of a long love, a bridge is just a temptation. It’s a path back to a version of yourself that no longer exists. If the bridge stands, you’ll find yourself standing on it in the middle of the night, checking their last seen or their stories 5 seconds after they post it.
This is the issue with staying friends or keeping the lines of communication open. Constant communication is just a slow release poison; it keeps the wound fresh. You get these little micro doses of them, asking to hang out or asking "how are you?” and each one resets the clock on your recovery and takes you back to square one.
You think you’re being civil but you’re actually punishing yourself.
Why are you trying to hold on to something that’s clearly slipped out of your grasp?
You’re watching the ghost of your relationship walk around the room, making it impossible to see anyone else. You’re so blinded by what once was and what could have been that you can’t see the endless possibilities staring you in the face.
To heal fast, you have to let it go up in flames. You have to be okay with being the villain who stopped responding, who blocked the contact and chose silence over a friendship that was never actually going to work.
Bridges are for burning. Burn that shit today.
They did nothing wrong technically but they need to be cut off? 🌚
I felt this DEEPPPPP within my spirits 😭
I don’t understand the concept of burning bridges, I leave the bridges lmao but most times, I don’t walk back over the bridge 😭
